Poplinski, Richard Stephen, 75, of the Oakland section of Johnstown, passed away December 30, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Johnstown, March 24, 1947 to Stephen and Frances (Tetkoski) Poplinski. Preceded in death by parents; loving daughter, Richelle; step mother, Josephine Poplinski, step brother, Francis Hrbal and much loved mother in law, Margaret "Chief" Blair. Survived by loving wife of 53 years, Connie (Blair) Poplinski; and loving son, Richard; brother, Edward Poplinski married to Sally; step sister, Patty Sladki; best friends, Mark and Patty Popolo; also by many in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and more friends than we can count. Rich was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam era. He served 3 tours of duty being in the "Brown Water Navy". He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Star, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation. He was the last surviving founding fathers of the Vietnam Memorial Post 4200 VFW of which he devoted over 30 years to as the club Quartermaster. He was a life member of the VFW, member of American Legion #294 and the Moxham P.N.A. Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Moskal & Kennedy Colonial Funeral Home of Johnstown, where vigil service will be held. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the funeral home with Fr. Karmanocky, officiating. Committal to follow at Grandview Cemetery with Military honors conducted by VFW Post #155 ritual team.
