Matilda Pavlik Obituary

Pavlik, Matilda Leona, “Tillie”, 93, Westmont, passed away December 3, 2021 at Allegheny Lutheran Home in Johnstown.  Born February 12, 1928 in Johnstown, daughter of the late John and Jennie (Rupnik) Stusek.   Preceded in death by husband, Andrew; and sisters, Elsie Tercek, Josephine Hill, and Mary Agnes Melikant.  Survived by loving sons, David (Maureen) in Johnstown; Richard (Linda) in Arizona; grandchildren David J. (Catherine); Molly Clarkson (Clay); Christopher (Julie); and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Emily and Elise Pavlik; Maura and Alaina Clarkson; and Lucas Pavlik. Also survived by brother, John Stusek in California and numerous nieces and nephews.  Tillie was a hard worker, both in and out of the home.  She worked for many years at Bestform, Penn Traffic, and Gee Bee supermarket.  At home, she was an avid baker and gardener.  She was proud of her Slovenian heritage, life member of S.N.P.J. and in her later years enjoyed writing poetry and song lyrics reflecting that.  Tillie loved to sing, not only in Slovenian with her sisters, but in both the traditional and funeral choirs as a former member of St. Anne Catholic Church and current member of St. Clement Catholic Church.  Family will receive friends before the Mass on Saturday, December 11th. from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral mass celebrated at St. Clement Catholic Church, Fr. William Rosenbaum and Fr. Bernard Karmanocky.  (Masks are requested by her family). Committal Grandview Cemetery. The Pavlik family would like to thank Tillie’s caregivers from the former Church of the Brethren Home in Windber, Allegheny Lutheran Home and Windber Hospice.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tillie’s memory to Allegheny Lutheran (Johnstown) or Windber Hospice.
