Vasilko, Joseph P., 87, Johnstown, passed away June 10, 2023 at Richland Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. Born March 17, 1936 in Nanty Glo, PA, son of the late Joseph T. and Julia (Manko) Vasilko. Survived by loving wife of 63 years, Joanne (Glovach) Vasilko, Johnstown; children, James J. Vasilko married to Catherine, Richland Township; Jerome F. Vasilko married to Danielle, Traverse City, MI; and Judith L. Edsall, Geistown; grandchildren, JJ. Vasilko married to Sarah; Julie married to Philip Reitnauer; Haley Vasilko and fiancé Andrew Crudgington; Jason Edsall married to Samantha; and Dayna Vasilko; great grandchildren, Logan, Carson and Cole Reitnauer; Jillian and Jocelyn Vasilko; and soon to be born, baby Girl Edsall; also by brother, Jack Vasilko married to Joanne along with numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was a proud U.S. Marine Veteran, and member of the SNPJ. He was an avid bowler and golfer in his younger days. Joe was a faithful Catholic, and member / eucharistic minister at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Johnstown. He was a 58 year president of SNPJ Trojan Lodge 749. Joe was also president of the Slovene fraternal independent beneficial society, and an auditor of the Conemaugh Valley federation of the SNPJ. He enjoyed his friends at Hecks store and Francos. “Pap” never missed his grandkids sporting events, he was always the first one there to get “his seat.” If you ever met him, he would bend your ear whether you knew him or not. He just loved people. Family will receive friends Wednesday, June 14th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Moskal & Kennedy Colonial Funeral Home of Johnstown, 219 Ohio Street, where vigil service will be held. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 15th at St. Patrick Church, Very Rev. Fr. Matthew Baum. Committal with military honors by VFW Post 155 at Grandview Cemetery.
